Abstract

Clinical clerkship which is the core in nursing curriculum aims that students learn nursing skill than theory through practice in clinical setting. After practice, the students¢¥ performance level should be evaluated like other educational courses. The student evaluation of clinical clerkship is primarily carried out through performance evaluation, for it is important that students acquire the knowledge in nursing, but it is more important to find out whether they apply their knowledge to real practice or not.
According to the purpose of clinical clerkship which is based not only on improvement of intellectual ability but also on the manner of dealing with patients and the improvement of basic nursing skill, this article focuses on clinical performance evaluation of nursing students.
Through recent literature review, this article introduces clinical performance evaluation methods such as OSCE, CPX, CAI Clinical Simulation, Clinical Evaluation Tool(CET) and investigates the situation and problems of student evaluation of clinical clerkship in Korea. Finally, this article makes suggestions for improving clinical performance evaluation in nursing.
